Homer L. Gibbs

Homer Lewis Gibbs, 92, entered into Heaven on Thursday, June 20, 2013 where he joined his beloved wife of seventy years and four months, four loving children, his parents and siblings.

Mr. Gibbs was born on May 15, 1921 in Wilcox County, Georgia. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Homer retired from Robins Air Force Base civil service where he dedicated many years of employment as a Plant Service Operator. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, a legacy of dedication and pride they are grateful to carry on. He also enjoyed farming, gardening, reading, and fishing. His bride, Grace Lavenia Gibbs; children, Linda Faye Gibbs, Mary Ellen Ballinger, Billy Wayne Gibbs, Keith Edwin Gibbs; and dear parents, Dave and Jane Gibbs, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Doster Gibbs (Shelia), Kathleen; Medra Gorman, Warner Robins; Kenneth Gibbs (Sandra), Centerville; Mike Gibbs (Roxane), Elko; nineteen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; faithful furry friend, Sadie; and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Haynesville with the Reverend David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Haynesville Building Fund, 2953 Highway 341 South, Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036 or to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
