Homer Lynwood "Buddy" Tharpe, Jr.

Homer Lynwood "Buddy" Tharpe, Jr., 69, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

Mr. Tharpe was born on September 4, 1943 in Macon, Georgia. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Buddy earned his Bachelor's degree at Georgia College in Milledgeville. With pride, honor, and courage he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After many years of dedicated civil service employment, he retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an Electronics Supervisor. His parents, Homer Lynwood Tharpe, Sr., and Katherine Gibbs Tharpe, both preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife, Bernice Tyler Tharpe, Bonaire; daughters, Debbie Brunson (Randy), Warner Robins; Rhonda Burchette (Scott), Stockbridge; grandchildren, Daniel Brunson, Rebecca Burchette, Sarah Brunson, Jennifer Burchette, Joshua Brunson; sister, Jean Cauley (Varney), Fitzgerald; brothers, Billy Tharpe (Strelsa), Baxley; Bobby Tharpe (Melinda), Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday evening, January 25, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
