Horace Roosevelt ''Ace'' Funderburk

Horace Roosevelt “Ace” Funderburk, born February 11, 1927, died December 16, 2003. Services will be private.

Ace was a WWII veteran. As a Naval Aircraft Radioman in the Pacific battles, he survived the sinking of two ships and a plane crash. He re-enlisted in the Air Force and became Chief of the Precision Measuring Equipment Laboratory at Vandenberg AFB, CA. More recently, Ace worked in quality assurance for an aircraft parts manufacturer in Dublin, GA. He was an avid and talented golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Idella Funderburk, NC; children, Wayne Funderburk, FL, and Gay Beal, CA; grandchildren, Cindy Funderburk, Danny Desjardins, Jr., and Jerry Beal, Jr.; siblings, Mrs. Helen Wiggins, Mobile, AL; Mrs. Mary Maxine Kury, Spokane, WA; Allen and Ray Funderburk, GA; Mrs. Sandra Watson, Bobby Funderburk, and Mrs. Shari Flowers, AL.

McCullough Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
