Irene John

Irene John, 96, entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, January 10, 2019.

Irene was born on March 19, 1922 in Panama City, Panama, the daughter of the late Cecil C. Gittens and Iris V. Walthrust Gittens. Mature in her faith, Irene was a devoted member of the Church of New Beginnings. Irene was blessed and highly favored. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Irene’s favorite pastimes included dancing, church, traveling and most of all worshipping her Lord and Savior.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by loving husband, Clavyvole John.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Byron O. Gittens (Lydia); grandchildren, Byron C. Gittens, Jason D. Gittens, Marcus Gittens, Michael J. Gittens, Kenny Mojica, Deivy Mojica, Xiomara Gittens, Deborah Gittens, Benja Mojica, Teyona Gittens, Tabatha Mojica, Keela John, Latricia Gittens, Tody Gittens and 28 other grandchildren in Israel and in Panama; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
