GA – On April 11, 2016, Irene Wilson went to heaven to join her beloved husband, George A. Wilson. She was 90 years old.
Born on August 7, 1925 in Bucyrus, Ohio, Irene met and married George, and moved to Fort Valley while starting a family. She proudly opened Majestic Studio and Hobby Shop (the first photo shop of Fort Valley) in 1951 and ran the business until 1971. Following the closing of the photo shop, Irene went to work at Robins Air Force Base in Civil Engineering before retiring. Warner Robins United Methodist was her church home.
Irene was known for her generosity to her family. She used her big heart in volunteering with both the Red Cross and Houston Medical Center. Irene also loved to travel.
She leaves her memory behind with her devoted sons, Jo Wilson (Gail) of Bonaire, James Wilson of Warner Robins and Jan Wilson (Cristy) of Bonaire; granddaughters, Jaimi, Sunshine, Jessica, Kristi and Sara; 12 great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 14th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, Irene will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley.
