Irmgard Fordham, 85, died in Summerhill Nursing Home on Sunday, July 5, 2009.
She was born to Phillip A. Schneider and Katharina Spoenrer Schneider on July 19, 1923 in Darmstadt, Germany where she lived there until the age of twenty-five. Then she bravely, but surely with a heavy heart, left her homeland to come to America with her husband, James Kelley Fordham. Sadly, thirteen brief years later, she became a widow with two young children. She worked part-time at Tabor Junior High School while the children were in school. Subsequently, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of a career in healthcare by becoming an LPN. She was employed by several nursing homes in Warner Robins until her retirement. She was a wonderful crocheter whose talents were recognized in the awards her entries received in local fairs. She was active in the Warner Robins Little Theatre, was an animal lover and leaves behind her cherished companion Schnauzer, Heidi. Mrs. Fordham was proud to be an American citizen, a decision not made casually.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jennifer Fordham, Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Ingrid and Glenn House, Kathleen; grandsons, Christopher and Spencer Fordham; and great-grandson, Sage Fordham.
A private service will be held at a later date at Big Sandy Baptist Church in Toomsboro, Georgia. The family requests that anyone wishing to honor Mrs. Fordham may consider a memorial donation to the Warner Robins Animal Shelter, 206 Bay Street, Warner Robins GA 31088.
