Jacqueline Ann Weaver Garcia

June 30, 1929 — September 14, 2002

After a long, brave fight, Jacqueline Ann Weaver Garcia, long time resident of Warner Robins, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta. “Jackie” was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on June 30, 1929 to Norman and Lucye Hammond Weaver. No one had more zest for life than Jackie, being a pioneer as one of the original “airplane hostesses” for American Airlines in 1949. After traveling the world as a military wife, she began her own career in civil service, eventually becoming a logistics officer. Upon retirement in January 1988, she became active in many organizations, such as Ladies of the Moose, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Greenbriar Garden Club, Newcomers Club, and various bridge clubs.

Jackie was preceded in death by her son, Louis Charles “Chuck” Piper. Survivors include her beloved husband of 41 years, Pete Garcia; son, MSgt. Allen P. Garcia and wife Tammy; daughter, Jody Piper Kearley, and husband Bruce. Also surviving are her four grandsons, Allen and Tyler Garcia, and David and Michael Kearley; her mother, Lucye H. Weaver and her cousin, Michael Crespo, both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie’s honor may be sent to Atlanta Hospitality House, 1815 Ponce De Leon Avenue, Atlanta, GA, 30307. Hospitality House was a tremendous source of support and comfort to her husband during Jackie’s long battle.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; these things have passed away forever.” Revelation 21:4
