On the evening of Friday, August 17, 2018, Jacqueline “Jackie” Barkley Capshaw, 64, passed away after many years of battling illnesses, mostly through stubbornness and sheer force of will.
Mrs. Capshaw was born on July 31, 1954 in Berkeley, California to the late Jack and Ruby Norton Barkley. She will be remembered by her family and friends as genuine and kind, sometimes to a fault. She dedicated years of her life to social work and had a passion for teaching. When she was no longer able to do either, she cared for her grandchildren, and being a Nana was her proudest achievement. She was also highly educated and accomplished, having received her Master’s degree in Family Services from Mercer University and nearly completing her Ph.D. before she became too ill to continue. Words cannot express how greatly she will be missed and how many lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Capshaw.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring children, Heather Capshaw and Megan Capshaw Hill (Rocky), both of Centerville; her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Allison, Trinity, Gage, Kalaya, Braylin, Jake, Katara, Ali Rae, and Brenson; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation with Mrs. Capshaw’s family will be Monday, August 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Donna Nye officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Capshaw’s arrangements.
