James Tye, 81, entered into rest on Friday, April 27, 2018.
James was born on August 15, 1936 in Bibb County, Georgia to the late, Hugh and Annie Tye. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army. Following his retirement, he worked at Robins Air Force Base as a Logistics Officer and was a member of Second Baptist Church. James enjoyed fishing and time spent gardening. He was a very proud grandfather and loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his son, Richard “Ricky” Tye, four brothers and two sisters.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Juanita Tye; children, David Tye (Renee) of Eastman, Sherryl Moore of Hawkinsville and Jimmy Roberts (Patti) of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Jason Minter (Brenda) of Lineville, Alabama, Chris Bailey (Christy) of Hawkinsville, Wes Tye (O’Lea) and Ethan Tye (Kourtney), both of Eastman and Steve Roberts of Savannah; great granddaughter, Breanna Minter; great grandsons, Levi Bailey, Bradley Tye, Dillion Tye and Jet Tye and siblings, Jeff Tye, Harold Tye, Grady Tye and Billie Jean Ball.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Mr. Tye will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of James Butler Tye to Second Baptist Church Building Fund at 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088 or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation at 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018.
