Jim Hegwood, 84, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
Jim was born in Camilla, Georgia, one of six children, to the late James and Minnie Thompson Hegwood. On July 6, 1950, Jim married the lovely, Sarah Rogers, before joining the United States Army to serve his country during the Korean War. Jim was a longtime resident of the Middle Georgia Area and co-founded the esteemed National Exterminating Company in 1974.
Jim was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and usher, and was also very active in the Joy Jubilee Sunday School Class and the XYZ Senior Adult Group. He was a servant to his community volunteering his time to Shriners charitable causes and was a 32nd Degree Mason. A member of the U.S. Pilots Association, Jim was very proud of earning his private pilot license at the age of 64.
In addition to his parents, his daughter, Sharon E. Hegwood; his brother, Benjamin Hegwood; and his sisters, Juanita Sharman and Christina Harrison all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Sarah R. Hegwood of Kathleen; children, Kathy McNease (YC) of Monticello, Florida and Roger Hegwood (Peggy) of Kathleen; grandchildren, Jill and Hilary Hegwood, Monica Vick, and Missy Kinney; great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Vick and Niyla Kinney; brother, Ronald Hegwood of Conyers; sister, Virginia Johnston of Social Circle, Georgia; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, November 13, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Second Baptist Church. A committal service will be held at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, Georgia at 3:30 p.m. where Mr. Hegwood will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Jim Hegwood to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
