James Daniel Breland, 84, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Care after a brief illness.
Jim, or Jimmy, as he was affectionately called by his friends and family members, was a successful contractor in the Central Georgia area for over 40 years. In addition to his professional work as a highly respected contractor, Jimmy was a man of diverse talents and hobbies. He was a ballroom dance instructor in his early years; an accomplished contract bridge player, having achieved junior master status; and an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Admiral Toco and Pearl Tawwater Breland.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Breland of Centerville; daughters, Katherine Bradley of Cartersville and Ashlin Breland of Musella; son, Scott Breland of Eatonton; stepdaughter, Kim Potter (Les) of Newnan; stepson, Neal Lowery of Warner Robins; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and three step-great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Studstill (Max) of Byron and brother-in-law, Tom Bethune (Vivian) of Perry.
In accordance with Jimmy's wishes, no memorial service will be held. Those wishing to extend condolences to the family may do so by making a contribution in his name to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon, GA 31201.
