James Edwin "Jim" Cohen

James Edwin “Jim” Cohen, age 83, passed away at home on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 16, 1938, he was the son of the late De Leon and Louise Cohen.

Soon after graduating high school, Jim proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for four years. He went on to dedicate a total of 35 years to General Telephone and Electronics Corporation (GTE), starting out as a lineman and eventually retiring as a district manager. Jim was skilled with his hands; he knew so much about building and was always happy to help his family and friends with their household projects and repairs. Building houses was his favorite pastime.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Glenda Ann Cohen of Byron; sons, Michael Cohen of Centerville, David Cohen (Susan) of Dallas, TX, Keith Cummings (Duna) of Woodstock and Darin Cummings (Cherie) of Fort Valley; and grandchildren, Allie, Emily, Dalton, Shiloh, Christopher (Lahti), and Aynsley Cohen, Christopher Cummings, Heather Cunrod, Kenneth Tate Alexander and Mariah Cummings.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Reverend Marty Watson officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens following the service.
