James “Hoyt” Sanders, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Hoyt was born on May 1, 1939, in Danville, Georgia, to the late Frank and Martha Wimberly Sanders. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army and dedicated over 60 years to BASF Chemical Company. He was dedicated to his work but knew how to enjoy life. Known by some of his friends as “Sonny,” Hoyt loved traveling in his RV, camping, supporting NASCAR and showing off his true craftsman skill by building. He enjoyed motorcycles and riding them during his younger years. A gentle spirt, Hoyt loved living life and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Lynda Lambert Sanders.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Laurie Carol Nolan, James Alan Sanders and Tia Baige Childree; grandchildren, Jessica Simmons, Emily Nolan, Katlyn Sanders, and Will Nolan; great-grandchildren, Kyrie Hardy and Carter Watts; sister, Suellyn Odom; cat, Nilla; and several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation with Hoyt’s family will be Monday, November 22, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Cleghorn officiating.
