Jim Nix, 69, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Jim was born on April 22, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late James and Cynthia Nix. Throughout his life, he moved to many interesting places including Hawaii, California, and Florida before settling down in Central Georgia. Jim met his wife, Melissa, as a teenager. After they married, he’d go on to enlist in the Army and later have their daughter, Jill, and son, Scott. Following his time in the Army, he became a heavy equipment mechanic for John Deere, where he worked hard for 40 years and eventually, retired. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting and fishing, digging for old bottles, rocks or minerals, and working with his hands. He was a self-proclaimed “Old Hippie,” who spoke slow and would help anyone in any way he could.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Gillian “Jill” Karina Nix. His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Melissa; his son, James Scott Nix; his grandchildren, Makenna Brei Westberry-Nix and Anson James Nix; his brother, Charles Robert “Bob” Nix; his nieces, Brittany Davis and Chelsea Nix; and finally, his in-laws, Sheila Nix, Julia Wagstaff, and Sandy Riley.
Visitation will be January 3, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 3, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, James will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
