On Sunday, August 29, 2021, James “Jimmy” Collins, passed away at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Born in Collins, Georgia, Jimmy was the son of the late W.A. and Marie Collins. He graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1960 before pursuing a career on Robins Air Force Base. Jimmy spent 33 years in civil service and was a Supervisor in the F15 Division at the time of his retirement. A servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville and was a vital part of the men’s Sunday school class. Jimmy was known by many and loved by all and will be sorely missed.
His memory will forever be treasured by his grammar school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Lillian Howell Collins; daughter, Debra Kratz (Keith); son, John David Collins (Wendy); five grandchildren, Jessica Taylor (Chad), Kayla Bertram (Nick), Johnathan Kratz (Mary), Jameson Kratz, and Callie Collins; five great-grandchildren; brother, David Collins (Shirley); sisters, Dohnna Martin (Lee) and Cindi Hancock; as well as many beloved extended family members and friends.
Visitation with Jimmy’s family will be Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. The funeral service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Fisher officiating. Following the service, Jimmy will be laid to rest in the First Baptist Church of Haynesville Cemetery. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the First Baptist Church of Haynesville Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FirstBaptistHaynesville/live/.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of James “Jimmy” Collins to the First Baptist Church of Haynesville Building Fund, 2953 Hwy 341 S., Hawkinsville, Georgia 31036.
