James Edison Kidd, 91, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on November 4, 1932 in Steens, Mississippi.

He attended Caledonia High School, where he met his wife of 62 years, Billie Jane Blalock, who passed away in 2015.

Jim was raised on the family farm, where he learned his incredible work ethic that he practiced his entire life. He was a good steward of the land and always enjoyed sharing the bounty of his large garden with his family and friends. A fallen tree in anyone’s yard was always cut and used for firewood. There was always a fire burning in his home during the winter months and he loved knowing his power bill was going to be low!

His work career began when he joined the Air Force, shortly after graduating from high school. He worked his way through college and graduated from Mississippi State. He was transferred to Robins Air Force Base in the early 1960’s, where he and Jane began their family and life in Warner Robins. He worked his way through college again and received his Master’s in Engineering from Georgia College. He worked in civil service at Robins Air Force Base for 35 years until his first retirement. His work on base gave him a successful career as well as many close and lifelong friendships that he treasured. Jim then went to work at Madison Research as a director and consultant to RAFB. He enjoyed his work there until his second retirement.

Jim was a man with many hobbies, most of which included being outdoors. He loved golf, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed playing cards, cooking and a cold drink on his patio after a hard days work. He served as a member of Robins Federal Credit Union Board for 32 years. Jim was passionate about his service on the board because it allowed him to use his incredibly sharp mind to help the credit union grow and prosper. He was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Jim loved his family. He was so proud of his five grandchildren and loved hearing about their accomplishments. Jim also looked forward to phone calls with his sister, Laurene Robinson. They talked about family, business and all things related to his beloved home state of Mississippi.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Annie Maud Kidd; his brother, Maborn Kidd (Betty); sisters, Bessie Mae Vaughn (Harold), Frances Duncan (Avery), Lucile Vaughn (Jep), Annie Ruth Swain; and brother-in-law, Elbert Robinson. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Fannie Jane Blalock; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Janet Blalock.

He is survived by his daughter, Angie Kidd Hunt (Dallas); son, Brett Kidd (Susan); grandchildren, Don Leebern (Rachel), Dallas Hunt, Adylein Hunt, Christopher Kidd and Davis Kidd; sister, Laurene Robinson and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Bruce Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.
