On the morning of Thursday, February 15, 2018, James L. Jenkins passed away at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. He was 63 years old.
James was born in Tampa, Florida on November 14, 1954 to the late Jesse and Jean Layton Jenkins. He graduated from Baker Academy in Hawkinsville and earned a certificate in welding from Albany Vocational Technical College. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and went on to retire from Jones Welding and Industrial Supply. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion.
James’ memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Jan Jenkins of Leesburg; children, Brian LeRoy Jenkins (Tiffany) of Yukon, Oklahoma and Bobbie Jo Dyer (Michael) of Tallahassee, Florida; stepchildren, Mitchell McCooley (Karnye) of Macon and Melanie Hayes (Timmy) of Leesburg; grandchildren, Austin McCooley (Sarah), Ashleigh Tafel (Thomas), Hunter Bowden (Jess), Heather (Tyler), and Jason and Henry Dyer; and great-grandson, Silas Tafel.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 in Andersonville National Cemetery where James will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of James L. Jenkins to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Ste A., Macon, GA 31201.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Jenkins’ arrangements.
