MSgt. James "J.C." McDermott, (USAF Ret.)

Warner Robins – James "J.C." McDermott, 76, entered into rest on Saturday, March 15, 2008.

MSgt. McDermott was born on June 23, 1931 in Gleason, Tennessee. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years and was a faithful member of the Aubrey Crocker Bible Class. A U. S. Air Force combat veteran, he participated in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and received the Bronze Star. Subsequent to his Air Force career, he continued to serve his country as a civil servant at Robins Air Force Base. He performed with pride and professionalism both in uniform and as a civilian and retired from Robins Air Force Base after twenty-three years of service. MSgt. McDermott was an avid camper and a dedicated volunteer with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. His parents, Cliff McDermott and Lora McDermott, siblings, Helen Sees, Junior McDermott and Frances Lyles, preceded him in death.

Family members include his wife, Rush McDermott, Warner Robins; daughter, Patty Malpass and husband Jim, Augusta; sons, Ricky McDermott and wife Karen, Byron and David McDermott and wife Tonia, Warner Robins; grandchildren, Misty, Matt, Brian, Chris, Jeff, Kristen, Michael and Maci; great-granchildren, Brianna, Lala, Bradford, Sophia, Skye and Aidan; sister, Dorothy Cooper, Kenton, Tennessee.

Visitation will be Monday, March 17, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Central Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon GA 31201.
