James “Sam” Harris, 50, passed away on March 24, 2007.
Mr. Harris was born on September 6, 1956 in Macon, Georgia. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerville, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Harris was President and owner of Harris Service and Equipment Company. He was a 1974 graduate of Southwest High School. Sam formerly served on the Board of Trustees at Westfield Schools.
He will be missed by his wife, Janis Bass Harris, children, Courtney Lynn Harris, James Patrick Harris, John Samuel Harris, all of Byron; parents Samuel Jackson “S.J.” Harris and Marie Graham Harris, Macon; sisters Sue Howard (Danny), Macon; Melanie Grayson, Columbus; mother-in-law Annis Bass, Byron; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gayle and Steve Jones, Byron; four nieces and three nephews. His brother, Mark Harris, and his father-in-law, Johnny Bass, both preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2007 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in First Baptist Church of Centerville with interment following in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
