James “Da” Stephens, 81, passed into the hands of his Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
James was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama, to the late John Wesley and Thelma Gladys Stephens, on December 12, 1938. A proud United States Air Force Reserve Veteran, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. James retired as an electrical engineer from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Playing golf and spending time with family were his favorite ways to spend his free time. Shirley Hills Baptist was his church home.
James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Marie Stephens of Warner Robins; children, James B. Stephens (Eva) of North Augusta, South Carolina and Cheryl S. Jones (Chandler) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Paul B. Elliott, Brittany A. Mosley, Andrew B. Kota, John-Wesley Kennedy, Devin E. Kota, and Seth Z. Clark; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Martha Kate Emerson of Alabama and John L. Stephens of Texas.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Joe Haselden officiating. James will be laid to rest in Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, Alabama at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of James to The Rehoboth Baptist Association c/o The Christian Social Ministries Food Bank, 744 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088 (you can make the check out to RBA for CSM) or to a charity of your choice.
