James M. Wall, IV

January 14, 1951 — December 16, 2024

Perry

James Marion Wall IV, the man, the myth, the legend, known to most as Jim, died peacefully at his home in Perry on Monday December 16, 2024,  surrounded by his family and his beloved dogs. Jim, age 73 and a native of Thomson, Georgia , was an Eagle Scout and a 1969 graduate of Thomson High School. He went on to earn Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech in 1973. After a lengthy career with Martin Marietta Aggregates, he later went on to create, own and operate a successful septic system company in Houston County, H.O.W. Contracting, alongside his son and daughter.

He was the son of the late James Marion Wall, III and Llew Collins Wall of Thomson. He leaves behind a beloved family: siblings, Dianne Federovich of McDonough and Michael Wall of Thomson and their families, daughter Autumn and her husband Rick Mahoney, son Jay (James M Wall V) and his wife Jaime; and cherished grandchildren, Ali and Garrett (Autumn) and James M Wall, VI, known as Six, and Ray (Jay).

Jim lived an extraordinary life. In 1995, he suffered a devastating dirt bike accident which broke his back and left him paraplegic. The grit and determination he displayed after his accident defined his life and inspired all those around him. He was fiercely independent, brave, brilliant, stubborn and spirited, with a sharp wit and a generous heart. Jim enjoyed fishing, golf, billiards, practical jokes and many years of playing Duplicate Bridge in Houston and Bibb counties. He adored his children and grandchildren and had a passion for rescuing and loving his dogs. He cultivated an incredible community of friends throughout his lifetime and was known as a dignified, honest and hard-working man with integrity and strength.

In lieu of flowers, we respectfully ask for donations to be sent to FOPAS (Friends of Perry Animal Shelter), which was a cause he loved and supported.
