In the evening of August 30, 2022, James Webb Baggett passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 77 years old.
James was born in Warner Robins near the end of WWII at what was then called Robins Field. The son of Lowell Ray and Charlotte Kathleen Baggett, James grew up in Warner Robins and graduated with the class of WRHS 63. In 1963 James began a 12-year service in the USAF. James was a Vietnam Vet.
After his honorable discharge, James began a career in law enforcement serving first with the Warner Robins Police Department under Chief of Police Billy Hunter before moving on to serve for 30 years in the Crestview, Florida Police Department. While there, James obtained his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.
James continued to live in Florida after his retirement until July of this year when his family moved him back to Warner Robins where he could be surrounded by family for the duration of his illnesses. James often said how happy he was to be ‘home’ again and how much he appreciated the love of his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Ray Baggett, Phyllis Dianne Ward and Iris Denise Miller of Kathleen, Larry Baggett of Bonaire; daughters, Sherry Baggett Dawson (Dave) of Perry, Sherill Johnson of Cleveland TN, and Tamatha Pederson of Crestview FL; son, Gene Baggett (Michelle) of Port St. Lucie, FL; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating James’ life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Sandy Valley Baptist Church with a memorial gathering one hour prior to the service.
