Jamie Ruth Simms, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 28, 2015.
On September 8, 1920, Jamie was born in Carrollton, Georgia to the late Martin Luther and Minnie Velma Davidson Freeman. She retired as a Specialist from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base.
Jamie had a true servant's heart and her generosity and dedication through several local organizations helped impact her community greatly. She was a much-loved member of the Officer's Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Good Samaritan Club. She called Northview United Methodist her church home. In addition to her parents, Jamie was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Hodges Simms, Sr.; son, Duane H. Simms, Jr.; one grandchild; and siblings, Marie Eckert, Martin Freeman, Jr., Ronnie Freeman, and Wendall Freeman.
Jamie's memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughter, Diana M. Ward of Eatonville, Washington; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; siblings, Melvina Johnson of Alpharetta and James Freeman of Nashville, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Jamie will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
