Janice Brown Young, 77, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
Jan was born in Ocilla, Georgia, on June 12, 1943, and spent her youth in Tifton, Georgia. At age 12, she moved with her family to Warner Robins where she attended Warner Robins High School. Jan attended East Tennessee State University for a year before moving to Miami where she worked as a secretary. There, she met her former husband and together they had a daughter, Geri. Not long after Geri was born, Jan moved to Atlanta where she gave birth to her son, Larry. She dearly loved her children and was proud to be their mother.
In Atlanta, Jan worked as a bookkeeper for 10 years until she and the children returned to Warner Robins. From 1974 until 1979, she worked as the controller and general manager at Houston Lake Country Club. Jan then moved to Alaska where she opened her own bookkeeping service which she ran until 1989. She relocated to Nashville, Tennessee and worked in publishing and bookkeeping for Dolly Parton. In 1993, Jan moved back to Warner Robins and sold lumber for Tolleson Lumber, before becoming the bookkeeper for McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks, LLC, and then finally retiring in 2017. Jan enjoyed horseback riding and making Indian beadwork in her spare time. Central Baptist was her church home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W. T. and Mae Brown; and her children, Geri Winters and Larry Young.
Those left to cherish her memory are her grandson, Danny Winters of Anchorage, Alaska; and her siblings, Bill Brown of Warner Robins, Barbara Cook of Atlanta, Beverly Dennis of Byron, Jinger Quimby of Hawkinsville, David Brown of Warner Robins and Debbie Brown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
