Janice Lord Shepherd

Janice Lord Shepherd, 72, entered into rest on Sunday, December 21, 2008.

Mrs. Shepherd was born on August 24, 1936 in Laurens County, was raised in Cochran, and resided in Warner Robins for over fifty years. Mrs. Shepherd graduated from Cochran High School and Middle Georgia College; she retired from Robins Air Force Base with over thirty years of dedicated service as an Accountant. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins where, for many years, she taught Sunday School until her health failed. For the past few years, she attended Peachtree Baptist Church in Byron where her son-in-law is pastor. She loved life, people, her family and her Lord, Jesus Christ. She touched the lives of everyone she met and will be greatly missed. Her husband, Henry G. Shepherd and parents, Ashley and Lucy Belle Lord of Cochran, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter Sandra Lauritsen (Jay), son David Shepherd (Lynette), both of Warner Robins; grandchildren Joshua and Andrew Lauritsen, Jessica Tharpe (Matthew and great grandchild Cameron), Hannah, Kaitlyn, Abigail, and Bethany Shepherd; brothers, Clifton Lord (Kay), Warner Robins, Louie Lord (Kathy) Pasadena, Texas; sister Lucy Overby (Sam) Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Reverends Jay Lauritsen and Mike Slade officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Second Baptist Church, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088 and/or Peachtree Baptist Church, 1202 Highway 247 Connector, Byron, GA 31008.
