Janie, affectionately known as “Janie B.,” went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 9, 2018. She was born in Sumica, Florida on May 22, 1924 and was 94 years old. She passed away of complications from pneumonia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Janie moved to Warner Robins in 1949 with her family and began 23 years of service at Robins Air Force Base where she received several certificates of merit and retired as a skilled gyro technician. She was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church, now known as the Assembly at Warner Robins. Janie was an avid gardener and wonderful cook and was known for her buttermilk biscuits, banana pudding, and homemade ice cream. She was a loving mother and grandmother and very loved by her family and friends. We will dearly miss her but rejoice that she is with her Lord and Savior in a new body. Alzheimer’s took her memory but not her smile.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Wesley Grantham; and her parents, Jimmie and Rebecca Herrington Brantley.
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Lance Grantham (Frances) of Springfield, Missouri, Rev. Glynn Grantham (Mary) of Warner Robins, and Linda Carpenter of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Mr. Grantham. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Janie to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201.
