Janis Dalton Wiggins

March 4, 1949 — May 16, 2015

Janis Dalton Wiggins, a beloved community leader of Houston County, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the age of 66.

Janis was born in 1949 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late C.C. "Pete" Dalton and Lorene Hogan Dalton. She was a 1967 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Georgia. Janis retired from the Houston County Board of Education as a much-loved home economics teacher at Tabor Middle School.

Friends have said time and again that it is difficult to put into words an accurate description of Janis. She will be remembered as talented and giving in so many aspects. Very involved in the community she was passionate about, Janis was a significant contributor of time and talent to causes far too numerable to list. Among these involvements were her services as Past-President of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce, serving as Chairperson of Warner Robins Military Affairs, serving as the Chairperson of HODAC, and being a long-time member of the Warner Robins Rotary Club.

Her loyalty to the community was only rivaled by her total devotion to the family she dearly loved. She was a homemaker who loved caring for her family and did so with a passion. She enjoyed decorating and design and was known for her amazing cooking skills. Janis was simply a beautiful person, both inside and out.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 39 years, Eddie Wiggins; son, Hayden Wiggins and wife, Dana, their children, Dalton and Harrison; stepson, Jay Wiggins and wife, Gena, their children, Dane, Madison and Trey; stepdaughter, Reagan Beck and husband, Chad, their children, Lydia Redd and Harley Beck; sister, Treva Green and husband, Marvin; brother, Jerry "Leon" Dalton, and his son, Jonas; nephew, Chris Green and wife, Holly, their children, Kendall and Garrett; nephew, Casey Green and wife, Jill, and their children, Tanner and Tyler Grace; and a legion of loving friends throughout the community.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Walls officiating. The family will also receive friends at Southside from 10:00 a.m. until just prior to service time.
