Jayneil Stokes Horne, a beloved member of our community, peacefully passed away at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the age of 75.
Born on October 10, 1947, Jayneil was the cherished daughter of the late George and Jeanette Leverette Stokes. Throughout her 75 years, she lived a life filled with purpose, commitment, and a heart full of love for her family and community.
Jayneil served as a management assistant at Robins Air Force Base for an impressive 37 years. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and her sense of responsibility towards her colleagues and her country.
Jayneil had a zest for life that extended into her many hobbies and passions. She was an active participant in numerous clubs, including the Sweet Peas (People Excited About Serving), Girlfriend’s Lunch Bunch, Book Browsers, and Hospice Pads. All friends who Jayneil encountered enjoyed her dry wit. Jayneil's creative spirit found expression in her leisure pursuits. She was also a skilled cross-stitcher and crocheter, and enjoyed shopping.
In addition to her parents, Jayneil was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Horne, Sr.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, David W. Horne, Jr.; siblings, Charlene Rackley (John), and Lynn Stokes (Katrina); nieces, Ginger Baker (Lee), and Lisa Ade (Dustin); and sister-in-law, Elaine Patterson (Richard).
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Houston Medical Center and Pine Pointe Hospice for the incredible care given to Jayneil during her time of need.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Houston Lake Baptist Church on Saturday, September 23, 2023. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Afterward, Jayneil Stokes Horne will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
