Jean-Baptiste Myrthil

On Thursday, September 29, 2016 Jean-Baptiste Myrthil, 84, passed away at Houston Medical center.
He was born on August 7, 1932 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Paul Myrthil and Francesca Juste. He immigrated to the United States in 1956. He went to work for Chemical Bank in New York. Upon his retirement at the age of 54, he went back to live in Haiti. He recently returned to live in the United States due to his declining health.
At an early age he enjoyed serving his church as a youth department director and later as a personal ministries director. He had a charismatic personality. In his neighborhood in Brooklyn New York, he was loved and adored by the children under the nickname of "Papi Jean". He had a passion for literature and loved to discuss politics.
Jean-Baptiste Myrthil was preceded in death by his brother Jacques Myrthil, his sisters: Marguerite Garnier and Immacula Paul.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Francaisse Myrthil of Warner Robins, his brother, Andre Myrthil (Flocie) of Brooklyn, New York; his son, Gary Myrthil, M.D. (Evelyn) of Warner Robins; his daughter, Janice Regis (Jean-Joseph, M.D.) of Haiti; five grandchildren: Hans Regis, Dayana Regis Marc, Laura Regis Charles, Jonathan Myrthil, Christopher Myrthil and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation with Jean's family will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday 9, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough. Entombment will immediately follow at Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
