Jeanette Dicks Watson, 82, entered into rest on Sunday, October 4, 2009.
Ms. Watson was born on August 7, 1927, in Thomasville, Alabama. Jeanette attended Auburn University where she met and married her husband in 1948. After seven years in Knoxville, Tennessee, they moved to Warner Robins, Georgia, in 1955 where she resided until she moved to Auburn, Alabama, in 2005. Jeanette and her husband, Harrison, were charter members of Central Baptist Church where she was involved in all phases of the church's life. She was a teacher and librarian in the Houston County School system for many years before retiring from Warner Robins High in 1992. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Harrison Watson, Jr., and her parents, Ouida Dunn Dicks and Tom Erby Dicks.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, John (Cody) Watson, Orange Lake, Florida; daughters, Pam (Jeff) Thompson, Gainesville, Georgia, and Angie (Dave) Williams, Opelika, Alabama; sister, Miriam McArthur, Folsom, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Minnie Scott, Opelika, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Harvey I. Watson, Birmingham, Alabama, Jack and Merle Watson, Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Joshua and Brooke Thompson, Macon, Georgia, Rebecca and Matt Grogan, Jacksonville, Alabama, Kate and Jason O'Quinn, Morrisville, North Carolina, and Cary Williams, Opelika, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Anna James Thompson, Emma Watson Thompson, Grace Copeland Thompson and Walker Harrison Grogan.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Central Baptist Church, Dr. Owen Bozeman officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Central Baptist Church - New Horizons, 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins GA 31088.
