Jeanie Granade Farmer, 55, of Kathleen, passed suddenly Friday, February 7, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sarah Bates Granade.
Jeanie was a devoted, most completely and unconditionally loving mother to her children and most recently as grandmother to her grandson. As a daughter and sister, Jeanie embodied the spirit of humility and service coupled with absolute delight and a magnanimous heart for anyone in her life.
Jeanie never met a new acquaintance but rather met new, instant friends. She was a teacher to a multitude of students in Houston County and a devoted, nearly life-long member of her church, Shirley Hills Baptist. Teaching children to read and nurturing them too was her gift and blessing to so many.
Jeanie Granade Farmer is survived by her children, James Farmer, Maggie and Zach Yelton and Meredith Farmer, as well as her grandson, Napp Yelton; her father Napp Granade; her sisters, Linda (David) Thompson and Kathy (Gerry) Brantley and brother Nelson (Valerie) Granade, who brought her a host of nieces and nephews she all loved with amazing depth: Gray Brantley, Grant Brantley, Kasi (Brennan) Strain, Leslie (Clifton) Bigwood, James Douglas Granade and Emily Granade. She is further survived by her aunt, Sally Bates. To simply know Jeanie was to love her indeed.
The family will be receiving visitors at McCullough Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11th from 5 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening and the service will be held Wednesday, February 12th at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Shirley Hills Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta Kappa Gamma Sarah Granade Literacy Fund, Attn: Betty Haselden, 425 Granada Ter, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
