Jessie Melinda Lovell Brungard

Jessie M. Brungard, 85, passed away in her home on Friday, January 23, 2015.

Jessie was born in Homer, Georgia and graduated from Tignall Public School. She then moved to Atlanta where she received a business degree from Southern Business School. Jessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guy Joseph Brungard; parents, Virgil Dalton and Hattie Taylor-Lovell; siblings, Equilla Thompson, Eurilla Whitener, Wates, Fred, Roy, Crawford and Myris Lovell, and three other siblings who died before adulthood.

While Guy was in the Navy, they lived in San Diego, California and Tacoma, Washington. After Guy transferred to the Air Force, they lived in Panama City, Florida; Wiesbaden, Germany; Finchingfield, England; and Warner Robins.

Jessie was a devoted wife and mother who always put everyone else's needs before her own. In 1967, Guy was killed serving his country in Vietnam, and Jessie remained single choosing to focus on the needs of her four daughters. She enjoyed the changing of the seasons, working in her yard and watching nature. Jessie also enjoyed serving her Lord through Shirley Hills Baptist Church for over 50 years. Jessie volunteered during Vacation Bible School, Walk through Bethlehem, served on the Keenager's Board, and made pads for the Cancer Society (through the church), along with other activities. She volunteered at Hallmark Nursing Home by washing and styling clients' hair as well.

Jessie's memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughters, Kathy Jones (Philip) of Warner Robins, Wendy Hathaway (Glenn) and Cindy Mize, both of Milledgeville, and Rhoda Allison (Jerry) of Flowery Branch; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of adoring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Jessie's life will be held at Shirley Hills Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Florida.
