Jewel ''Jaye'' Emerson, 67, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 25, 2013.
Jaye was born on November 25, 1946 in Griffin, Georgia, one of six children, to the late Arthur Lee Emerson, II and Laura B. Emerson King. She retired after several years as a data processor from Robins Air Force Base and assisted many families as a paralegal in the private sector. She was affectionately known to the Air Force pilots as ''the cookie lady.''
A member of the Messianic Jewish congregation, Jaye was also involved in the sign language ministry of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading Scripture to other nursing home patients, and one of her favorite pastimes was performing ballet, even from her wheelchair.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her brothers and sisters, Arthur L. Emerson, III (Cindy), Cumming, Georgia; Bonnie E. Cook (John Thomas), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Jenny E. Turley (Lee), Ashtabula, Ohio; William K. Emerson, II (Margaret), Barnesville, Georgia; and Guy A. Emerson (Lisa), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; six nieces; and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. The family will accept flowers or memorial donations may be given to the Arthritis Foundation, Georgia Chapter, 2970 Peachtree Road NW, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30305.
