Jimmy "Jim" Douglas Hargis, 68, was greeted with the words "well done" by his Lord Jesus on Thursday, March 17, 2011.
Mr. Hargis was born on August 1, 1942 in Lafayette, Tennessee. He was a faithful member of Houston Lake Baptist Church where he attended the Sonshiners Sunday School class. MSgt Hargis was a loyal and proud retired veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam era. Subsequent to his military retirement, Jim retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist. He was passionate about the love for his Lord and Savior, his family, and his church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. His parents, Carlos and Corine Hargis, and his son, James DeLee, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Martha Jane Hargis, Kathleen; children, Diane (Gary) Tyus, Shelley (Tim) Leeper, and Barbara Dillon; grandchildren, Krystle (Brett) Smith, Annalisa Leeper, Tanner Walker, Justin Rogers, Shawn Montgomery, Bryan Leeper, and Levi Duffey; great grandchildren, Taylore Martin and Mickell Smith.
Visitation will be Saturday evening, March 19, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Houston Lake Baptist Church, with the Reverend Fred McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Houston Lake Baptist Church Building Fund, 2300 Highway 127 East, Perry, Georgia 31069.
