Mr. Jimmie Talmadge West passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 4:10 p.m. Mr. West was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force. After his retirement, he started his own business, Blackwater Bait and Tackles in Warner Robins, Georgia. He then decided to return to Robins Air Force Base where he worked twenty plus years in Civil Service until he retired in 2006.
Mr. Jimmie T. West was born on February 13, 1939, in Phenix City, Alabama to Mr. Ponis “Pony” T. West and Clara Mae (Kornegia) West. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Joyce W. Welch, his mother whom he adored, Clara Mae (Kornegia) West, and Father Pony West. Jimmie was a man who loved to laugh and crack jokes. He loved to show off his dance moves to anyone who would join in with him. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, who very much enjoyed spending any chance he could get to be in the outdoors. A true patriot to his core, he never let go of his belief in God, Country, and Family.
Mr. West is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mrs. Joyce P. West, his two daughters, Kristin Hovey (Jim Brown) of Mooresville, NC, Kimberly Richardson (Steven) of Perry, GA, and son, James Kelly (Chuck Foster) of Americus, GA. Their six grandchildren, Ashley Rouse (Michelle), Alexandra Reynolds (Adam), Ric Richardson (Kim Burgess), Kinley Hovey, Stratton Kelly (Haleigh Wynn), and Kenna Hovey (Gabriel Gray). Along with their four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Ryker, Phoenix, and Caden. Together with his two sisters, Pat Harvey (Calvin) and Joann West. In addition to a large extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jimmie Talmadge West was a true American Hero and Patriot who loved to spend his older years tinkering in his garage on whatever project he had in mind at the time. His love language in life was to always make his and his wife’s home a special and beautiful place where they could spend their time growing old together. He loved to sit by his pond everyday feeding his ducks, turtles, and fish, as well as feeding the family pets, Cody, Buddy, Maggie, and Binx as many treats as he could sneak them.
A visitation with be held Monday, July 24, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Mr. Jimmie Talmadge West will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Mausoleum in Warner Robins, GA with full military honors. It would be an honor for our family if you came out to celebrate his life with us.
