Jimmie Lindsey, Jr.

September 25, 1928 — October 30, 2022

Jimmie Lindsey, Jr., born on September 25, 1928 in Mobile, AL to the late Barbara Martin-Lindsey and James Lindsey, passed away peacefully at home on the evening of Sunday, October 30, 2022. He was 94 years old.

A veteran of both the United States Army and United States Navy, Jimmie proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the military, he continued service to his country while dedicating 30 successful years to Civil Service. Jimmie began this career in 1952 and worked at Brookley AFB, AL, Laughlin AFB, TX and finally at Robins AFB, GA where he retired in 1982.

In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, fishing, boating, following college football (ROLL TIDE ROLL!) and watching the Atlanta Braves. Jimmie was also an avid fan of Northside High School Football; he attended countless games over the years, even after his three children had long been graduated. For years, Jimmie was a dedicated Mason having been through all of the chairs. He was honored to do carpenter work for the widows of the Freemasons, as well. When he wasn’t participating in one of his many hobbies, Jimmie was more than likely attending his grandchildren’s sporting events or driving the church bus for Southside Baptist Church. He enjoyed his time as a member at Southside where he sang in the choir for years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sarah A. Lindsey; children, Michael W. Lindsey (Kimberly), Jimmie H. Lindsey (Gwyn) and Melissa L. Brown (Kenny); grandchildren, Elisha L. Maccarone (Nathaniel), Caleb N. Lindsey, Chad Lindsey (Jennifer), Kyle Lindsey (Lindsey), Alaina D. Brown, Alyssa D. Brown, Ashton W. Brown, Ashley B. Lindsey and Curtis A. Hall; and great-granddaughter, Remi Alexandria Maccarone.
