Jimmie Wilbanks, 81, joined his children in heaven in the early morning hours of Monday, December 11, 2017.
Born in Commerce, Georgia, Jimmie was the son of the late Lenard Arvin and Mamie Puckett Wilbanks. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. Jimmie lived in Warner Robins for most of his life, but lived in Sylva, North Carolina for some time, as well. There, he was a devoted member of New Savannah Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was the song leader. He was also a member of the Cross Bearers Singing Group in the 1980’s. Jimmie also had a passion for working on and restoring old cars and collecting model trains.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his children, Jack and Mike Wilbanks, and Alva Myrtis Wilbanks.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Juanita Wilbanks of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Juanita Barfield (Lee) of Warner Robins, Jennifer Wilbanks of Twiggs County, Eric Wilbanks of Bonaire, Kristi Hawkins (A.J.) of Savannah, and Laci Gravely (John) of Fort Valley; daughters-in-law, Judy Wilbanks of Warner Robins and Dianna Wilbanks of Savannah; and brother, Walter Wilbanks of Commerce.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Jimmie’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Shearin officiating.
