Jimmy “Turbo” Ridings, widower of Denise Gautreaux Ridings, reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven, on the morning of Monday, January 24, 2022, at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his cherished daughters.
Born in Perry, GA on February 7, 1952, Jimmy was the son of the late Willard and Corine Price Ridings. He attended Northside High School and was an accomplished drum player, as he started playing in middle school and continued all throughout high school and adulthood. Jimmy was proud to have played in a number of bands over the years.
Jimmy retired from maintenance at the Medical Center of Central Georgia having dedicated over 20 years to the hospital. It was while working there that he affectionately earned the name “Turbo” from all of his co-workers. When he wasn’t at work, Jimmy absolutely loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved woodworking, as well, and never turned down the opportunity to help his grandchildren with their own projects. His eagerness to help did not stop with his grandchildren and family, however. If there was a stranded motorist on the side of the road, he was bound and determined to get them up and running again. To help was his second nature. Additionally, Jimmy was a true patriot who was sure to thank anyone in uniform for their service, whether it be a veteran or a law enforcement officer. He was also a longtime member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the NRA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, James Ashley Ridings.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughters, Stacey Ridings Stephenson (Brian) of Warner Robins, Amiee Ridings Rushin (Cliff) of Kathleen and Tiffany Ridings Howle (Jerry) of Pinehurst, NC; grandchildren, Emily Stephenson (Kyle), Macy Stephenson (Trevor), Cailyn, Gavin and Jake Rushin, Shepherd and Vivian Howle, and Ciera and Logan Hilderbrandt; brother, Eugene Ridings (Susanne); and brothers-in-law, Jarome Gautreaux (Mitzi) and Doug Gautreaux.
Jimmy’s family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Jimmy will be laid to rest next to Denise in Magnolia Park Mausoleum following the service.
