Jo Ann Harper Moore, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 19, 2021.
Ms. Moore was born on June 7, 1938 in Haynesville, Georgia, to the late William Hoke and Lucille “Sug” West Harper. She spent her entire life in the Haynesville community and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. She worked many years and retired as a Court Clerk from the Houston County State Court. Music was her life. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved to sing. Her family traveled and sang Gospel music as The Harper Family for many years, and she and her daughter also traveled and sang with The Laymen Quartet in the early 1970s. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, but most of all, she was a friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Ms. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Roger Lewis; and her sister, LaDonna Harper Crumley.
Ms. Moore’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving daughter, Vickie Moore Lewis of Haynesville; her granddaughters, Gamble Lewis Greathouse (Mike) of Centerville, Jenna Lewis Edger (Bryan) of Bonaire, and Jaime Lewis Winchester (A.J.) of Haynesville; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Ronnie Harper (Faye) of Perry and Lynn Harper (Marti) of Hiawassee; her adopted sister, Rudine Channell of Haynesville; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
At the family’s request, all services will be private.
