Jo Ann James

Jo Ann James, our devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dog mother, quietly passed away on the evening of Tuesday, November 1, 2022. She was 79 years old.

Jo Ann was born in Hayti, MO on August 5, 1943 to the late Joel Henry Colbert and Willie A. Carr. She was enormously proud of her late husband, John L. James’ service to his country and dedicated her life to traveling with his military career and raising their children in a happy home. Additionally, Jo Ann was a wonderful gardener who could bring a dead plant back to life overnight with her green thumb. She enjoyed going fishing, cooking, baking, singing and playing her organ, as well. More than anything else, Jo Ann loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. James.

Those left to cherish Jo Ann’s memory are her loving children, Melinda Misiewicz (Brad Niebrand), Donna James (Clay Walker) and John “Larry” James (Heather); grandchildren, Joseph Misiewicz, Jenny Moody (Matt), Amy Zmack (Justin), Jo Lynn Cathcart (Alex), Alex Walker (Bo), Bill Walker (Suling), Nickolaus James, and Chrystian, Alyssa and Brian Trauth; great-grandchildren, Aleks Misiewicz, Lilibeth and Ryan Zmack, Aiden and Liam Cathcart, Dylan Perdue, and Casey Tucker, Isabella and Addison Walker; and her four-legged children (dogs), Cricket and Kayley.

Jo Ann will be laid to rest with a graveside memorial service on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Jo Ann to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
