On the morning of Friday, October 15, 2021, Jo Marsene Davis passed away at the age of 92.
Jo was born to the late William and Daisy Brewer Howard on October 29, 1928, in McIntyre, Georgia. In 1942, she moved to Wellston, now Warner Robins, with her family. She was a 1946 graduate of Rumble High School. After high school, she attended Business Training Institute in Macon. She retired from Robins Air Force Base with 31 years of service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Centerville and the Shining Lights Sunday School class. She was an active member of Centerville Senior Citizens Club, working as a volunteer in the kitchen. Jo was passionate about her family and loved spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maxie Howard Whitaker (husband, Nat Harris Whitaker); two brothers, John Key Howard and Billy Howard, husbands, Frank Henry Shave, Jr., Clayton Howard, and Harold “Jack” Davis; grandson, Billy Shave; stepchildren, Patty Purvis and Alan Davis; stepdaughter-in-law, Carol Davis, and her precious Sheltie, “Bandit.”
She is survived by her children, Gary (Shirley) Shave, Diann (Gary) Mendel, Mike (Sandy) Davis, Steve (Vicki) Davis, Sheryl Davis, Ricky Purvis and 14 grandchildren, Samantha (Russ) Patterson, Brandy (Scott) Farrell, Carrie (Chris) Grimes, Brad (Heather) Davis, Michelle (Lee) Smith, Bobby (LeAnn) Davis, Mark (Esther) Davis, Paul (Barrie) Davis, Katie (Benji) Anderson, Dustin (Joanna) Mendel, Trisha (Alicia) Purvis, Karli Purvis and Josh Purvis; 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Livonia Howard, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with Jo’s family will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Don Feezor and Reverend Phil West officiating. Following the service, Jo will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
