Joan McDowell passed away unexpectedly at the Coliseum Medical Centers in Macon on the afternoon of Monday, July 11, 2016. She was 80 years old.
Joan was born on September 2, 1935 in Sylvester, Georgia, a daughter to the late A.H. and Sally Hathcox Hogan. She worked in the bank industry for most of her working years and retired from Wachovia Bank. Mrs. McDowell also served as secretary to the Warner Robins Jaycettes.
Joan devoted her life to Jesus Christ and lived by example to her family and to all who knew her. Second Baptist was her church home and in her free time, she loved shopping, decorating, and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Chesley Hogan, Lena Stripling, Elaine Schewe, and James Wade.
She leaves her memory behind with her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert E. "Bob" McDowell of Warner Robins; son, Michael McDowell (Kari) of Marshallville; grandchildren, Lindcey Haddle (John) and Shawn McDowell; five great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15th in Magnolia Park Mausoleum where she will be laid to rest. Reverend Mike Slade will officiate.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mrs. McDowell to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
