Joanna B. Knowlton

JoAnna Bauman Knowlton, 60, lost her lengthy battle with cancer on Monday, December 27, 2010.

Mrs. Knowlton was born on June 2, 1950 in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was very active in the Houston County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life throughout her own illness, and served as an accounting chairperson for four years. Previously, she was a medical assistant with Dr. Roy Powell in Macon and at Cornerstone Medical with Dr. Perry Melvin. On October 3, 1973, she married Vern W. Knowlton, who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness. Her parents, Joseph E. Bauman, Sr., and Josephine T. Bauman, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Vern W. Knowlton; children, Melissa (Keith) Young, Wichita Falls, Texas, Robert J. Krause, San Antonio, Texas, Caron (Jack) Bookout, Fort Lee, Virginia; grandchildren, Kyler Young, Darin Young, Isabella Bookout, Robert Krause, Ryan Bookout and Jaymie Krause; and brother, Joseph E. Bauman, Jr., Paris, Texas. She was also blessed to have a dedicated and loving group of friends who cared for her as family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Kathy Israel-McCleod officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to Vista Care Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
