Joe Ed Robinson, 88, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
Mr. Robinson was born on November 20, 1920 in Morgantown, Mississippi where he grew up and became the star quarterback of his high school football team. A World War II United States Army veteran, he participated with honor in the liberation campaigns of Naples – Foggia, Central Europe, and Rhineland Rome-Arno. He was the proud recipient of the American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. He subsequently had a long and successful career in Civil Service and retired from Robins Air Force Base as Fire Chief. An excellent marksman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints. His parents, John Ethel Robinson and Inez George Morgan Robinson; brother, Kirk Morgan Robinson; and sister, Rebecca Bess Williams, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Thirza "Terry" Little Robinson; daughter, Janice R. Hancock, (William), Wetumpka, Alabama; son, Geoffrey Little Robinson, Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Fred McClaine Robinson, Mississippi; grandson, Jeremy Joseph Robinson (Nina); granddaughter, Jessica Jo Hancock; great-grandchildren, Gavin Robinson, Brayden Robinson and Baylee Robinson; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Morgan Chapel Cemetery in Morgantown, Mississippi. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Humane Society of Elmore County, 255 Central Plank Road (Highway 9), Wetumpka AL 36092.
