John Anthony (Tony) Oakes

John Anthony (Tony) Oakes, 51, entered into rest on July 14, 2011.

Tony was born on March 26, 1960 in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was a 1978 graduate of Warner Robins High School, and was an employee of the City of Warner Robins. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Mr. Oakes was a member of several organizations including the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Southeastern Cherokee Confederacy, and the Moose Lodge. His parents, Samuel L. Oakes and Eunice Harper Oakes preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Alcena "Alli" Oakes, Warner Robins; sons, Anthony Lee Torres "TJ" Oakes; Richard Joseph Oakes; Christopher Nathan Wood; Brandi Danielle Wood, all of Warner Robins; and siblings, Lillian O. Self, Warner Robins; Mary O. (Marvin) Fowler, Haynesville; Pearl O. (Pat) Stone, Byron, and William M. Oakes, Byron.

A Rosary will be said Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road #359, Macon, GA 31210, or to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 152 N. Crest Blvd #C, Macon, GA 31210.
