John Goodrich, 87, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008.
Mr. Goodrich was born on October 6, 1920 in Cove, Arkansas. He graduated from high school in Longview, Texas. With pride and honor, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He began his postal career in Tyler, Texas as a postal clerk, subsequently promoting to supervisor, and in 1968, to Postal Inspector. It was in that capacity that the U. S. Postal Service transferred him to Macon in 1971, a position from which he retired in 1988. His church home was Westside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. His parents, Elmer D. Goodrich and Essie Helen Goodrich, preceded him in death.
His memory will be forever treasured by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Gladys M. Goodrich, Macon; sons, Mike and Patti Goodrich, Macon, Ron Goodrich, Tyler, Texas, Richard and Gloria Goodrich, Tyler, Texas, Johnny and Shirley Goodrich, Troup, Texas, and Steve and Linda Goodrich, Chandler, Texas.; brother, Robert E. Goodrich, Pontotoc, Mississippi and Danne E. Goodrich, Washington D.C.; and fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 14, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the McCullough Funeral Home Chapel with visitation immediately preceding from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Mausoleum. The family would like to request that memorial donations be given to Heartland Hospice, 115 Arkwright Landing, Macon, GA 31210.
