Our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and hat enthusiast, David Sexton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the age of 45. He is gone but will never be forgotten.
A lifelong resident of the middle Georgia area, David was born in Macon, Georgia, on September 14, 1975. He spent his formative years in Gray, then moved to Warner Robins, where he attended Northside High School. There, he participated in the Drama program and met the love of his life, Carrie Seavy, in Homeroom of their junior year. David graduated from NHS in 1994 and pursued a degree in Polymer and Textile Chemistry at Georgia Tech. He and Carrie married in November of 1997, a couple of years before he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Tech. Following his college career, he worked in various fields, most recently as the Technical Director of Clean Control Corporation.
With many passions in his life, David had numerous talents and hobbies and was good at each of them. His motto was: “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” He never sat still and was always either out enjoying nature, working on a project of some sort, playing music, or collecting hats. For the last 25 years, he was fervent in his love for road cycling and mountain biking, and enjoyed being a member of the Ocmulgee Mountain Biking Association (OMBA). David also loved boating in salt water marshes and spending time in the mountains. He had an extremely creative imagination, as well, and used that ability in building and fabricating things. One of his latest projects was the Lost Moon Bar and Grill that he constructed in his backyard. He had a love of working on cars, too, which was a hobby he enjoyed since childhood. When David did feel the urge to stay inside, which wasn’t often, you could find him reading, cooking or entertaining his sweet fur baby, Cooper. In addition, David was a music enthusiast who loved playing bass guitar and listening to all genres of music.
The legacy of David’s kind spirit, smart and compassionate disposition, and zest for life will always live on through his friends and family. He loved everyone and touched each person that he came in contact with.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Carrie Sexton of Bonaire; his father, Don Sexton (Eileen) of Gordon; his mother, Judy Sexton (Cathy Dillard) of Macon; his siblings, Toni Joseph and Cody Floyd; and his beloved fur baby, Cooper.
