John L. Alford, Jr.

John L. Alford, Jr., 88, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

John was born on October 21, 1925 in Rome, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked Civil Service for many years.

His parents, John L. Alford, Sr. and Hilda Mae Yarborough Alford; and brothers, Jim, Jack and Bill Alford, preceded him in death.

John's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of sixty years, Opal Story Alford of Kathleen; children, John L. Alford, III (Deitra) of Kathleen and Janet Mould (George) of Young Harris, Georgia; grandchildren, Amy Shelton of Senoia, Georgia, Jennifer Burns (Brad) of Marshall, North Carolina and Jason Orlman of Young Harris, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Justin Ford, Jesse Ford, Robbie Lunsford and Bradley Parker; brother, Jerry Alford (Mary); sisters, Martha Ann Everidge (Tommy) and Gloria Jean Burns (Lamar); and many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
