John Milton Turk

John Milton Turk, 63, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

John was born on April 18, 1949 at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. John is a 1967 graduate of Limestone High School in Limestone, Maine. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he worked in the Medical field while stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam era. Subsequent to serving his country, John completed his Associates degree in Chemistry from Macon Jr. College and his Bachelors of Science and Master's degree in Chemistry with honors from the University of Georgia. John was an Organic Chemist for Aldrich Corporation and Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After returning to Georgia, he established VOA Environmental Laboratory and worked as an Organic Chemist for the past twenty years. John enjoyed kayaking, being a hang glider pilot, and semi pro paint ball. His father, John Norman Turk, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his mother, Lois B. Turk, Warner Robins; former wife, Ruth Ann Turner, Atlanta; brother, Robert James Turk, Warner Robins; sisters, Barbara Turk-Ridenour (Morris Ridenour), Burlington, Iowa; Holly Turk-Cochran (Frank Cochran), Macon; niece, Tessa Turk-Baxter, Watkinsville; nephews, Gregory R. Cochran and Christopher S. Cochran, both of Macon.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests donations in memory of John Turk to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia, Attn: Sandy Lawrence, 777 Walnut Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.
