John Paul Garrett, 67, entered into rest on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
John was born on February 23, 1945 in Cordele, Georgia. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. After leaving the Air Force, John worked for several years with Keebler and then pastored for the Congregational Holiness Church in Eastman, Georgia, then in LaGrange, Georgia, totaling five years. He was also a devoted member of Victory Assembly of God in Lakeland where he served as an usher. His parents, William Shirl Garrett, Sr. and Nancy Hazel Garrett; and sister, Gloria Oglesby, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Deborah Gann Garrett, Lakeland, Florida; children, Natasha Ritter (Shane), Lakeland, Florida, Estonna Garrett, Fort Myers, Florida, and Steven Garrett, Lakeland, Florida; siblings, Shirley Sego, Franklin, Kentucky, June Widener, Macon, Georgia, Shelby Garrett, Macon, Georgia, William S. Garrett, Jr., Ellijay, Georgia, Patrick Garrett, Yuba City, California, Ruth Yancy, Macon, Georgia, Mary Helen Koostra, Ellijay, Georgia, and James Garrett, North Carolina; grandchildren, Aubrey and Elijah Ritter; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. The family will accept flowers, or donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park Drive, Atlanta, GA 30329 or to the Disabled Veterans of America, 4462 Houston Avenue, Macon, GA 31206.
